Carol and Craig spent their first four years of married life on tour with the Air Force, and settled in Kennewick, Wash. Carol died in a motorcycle accident near Lolo, Mont. She was riding on the back of a motorcycle driven by her husband Craig on U.S.12 when they decided to pull off at a turnout to put on warmer clothes. While braking, the rear wheel locked and the couple was thrown off. Carol died of her injuries at a hospital and Craig was treated for minor injuries. Both were wearing helmets at the time.
