Harry had hazel eyes and sandy hair. He moved his family to Carrolltown, Pa., in 1901. He was a wagon maker and carriage painter, and worked for the Luthers in Carrolltown. He played the small harp and guitar. According to his daughter Aline, Harry was named after a Mr. Adams in Carrolltown, who was a banker. According to his daughter Edna, the family annually used real lighted candles on their Christmas tree in the front parlor. The children's dinner plates at Christmas had an orange, apple, nuts and a stick of candy.
