Elverta was fatally injured in a motorcycle accident on Route 53 in Coalport, Pa. She was riding the vehicle with the driver John Kuzar of Barnesboro, when it failed to negotiate a curve, struck a berm and was upset. Elverta subseqently died at Mercy Hospital in Altoona. Kuzar pled guilty to drunk driving and was sentenced to 60 days to a year in the Clearfield County Prison.
