Walt settled in Patton, Pa. He worked 17 years for the Pa. Railroad and at Patton Clay Manufacturing. He also served for 20 years as Patton street commissioner, and also was fire policeman for the borough. Walt also was superintendent of the Sunday school for the Patton Presbyterian Church. Walt was especially passionate about the Patton Volunteer Fire Company which he joined 1933, and remained active until a few years before his death. He was buried in his safety gear.

Emily was an ordained elder of Patton Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday school and was involved in various church functions. She was also a member of the local singing group, The Marionetts.
