She was a legal secretary at her father’s law firm, worked at Love’s Candy in Johnstown, and clerked at the town’s department stores. She also was a representaive for Stanley Home Products for 15 years. She also was a talented seamstress, remembered for her dance costumes and hand-braided wool rugs.
Notes for Clair O. (Spouse 1)
Clair, known as “Punce,” was a roofing contractor, and established Clair Weaver Contracting in 1951. The business had up to seven employees and was prevalent in the Moxham district of Johnstown, Pa. During WWII Clair was in the merchant marines for two years, stationed in Sheepshead Bay, NY. The family had a summer home in Bedford, Pa., and with his wife Betty they enjoyed dancing, card playing, bowling, rug making and candy making. Together, they once made a rug that won best of show at the Cambria Co. Fair. Clair died following a four year struggle recovering from an operation due to diverticulitis.
