Patty taught in the Akron Public School System for 35 years, of which the last 30 were at Hatton Elementary. She had a Masters Degree in Education as a reading specialist from the University of Akron.

Bob and Patty were schoolteachers in Akron, Ohio. Bob was an accomplished cross country runner in his youth. He was a Navy Corpsman during the Korean Conflict and acquired a Master’s Degree in Education from Kent State. He taught at Ritzman Elementary in Akron.
