Cyril lived in Johnstown, Pa. In 1917, he was working as a stenographer for a coal company. He served in the Army overseas in WWI. By 1940 he was living with a Harry A. Stough, a store owner, in Ogle Township, Somerset County, Pa. Cyril was elected school director there, as the only Democratic victor in the 1949 local election, with 39 votes. Cyril was frequently identified as a business associate with Harry, and they spent the Winter of 1954 together in Florida.
