Agnes, like her sister Mary, went to Seton Hall University to become a teacher. After Mary contracted tuberculosis, they moved to Arizona for treatment, and were later joined by their older sister Bertha. After Mary’s death in Tucson, Agnes eventually returned home to Pennsylvania. But the memory of her sister’s T.B. remained a concern. Agnes avoided contact with people and kept to her own eating utensils.
