Notes for Alfred Henry Lauer
Alfred was raised in Carroll Township, Cambria County, Pa. In 1900, he was a day laborer living with Nettie in Braddock, Pa. By 1910, the couple had lost two children and was living in Pitcairn, Pa., with their 9 month old son, Morris. Alfred was working as a carpenter for the railroad. His WWI draft registration card indicated he was a car repairman for the Pennsylvania Railroad in Pitcairn, Pa. By 1920 the family took up residence in Irwin, Pa., with sons Moris and Carl. By 1930, the family added an adopted daughter, Ida Killinger.

By 1935, Alfred was living in Larimer, Pa. His death certificate in 1941 confirms that he worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad.
