Blanche died of an adrenal insufficiency following shock from cataract surgery.

In 1918, John was employed by the Altoona Coal & Coke Co. in Coupon, Pa. In 1920, the Census listed him as a farm laborer working on his parents’ farm in Dean Township, Cambria Co., Pa. The 1930 Census places him in Girard, Oh., as a steel mill catcher, with his wife Blanch and children John Jr. and Blanch. By 1935 he returned to Pa. and lived at R.D., Ashville, Pa., where he was a laborer for the Pennsylvania railroad at the time of his death from emphysema in 1957.
