In 1929, Edna graduated from the Pittsburgh hospital nursing school. She worked there until the time of her marriage in 1931. The 1940 Census finds Edna married with 3 children living without her husband at her parents’ home in Altoona, It rather cryptically indicates that her first two children, but not her, were previously living in Pittsburgh, in 1935. By 1956, Edna was living in Detroit, Mich.

At the time of his marriage to Edna, Leo was the proprietor of a gasoline station and parking lot in Pittsburgh, Pa. The couple initially settled in the Oakmont district.
