Anne was considered to be a brilliant and multi-faceted person. She had a nursing degree and worked as a medical records clerk. She wrote extensively, both book-length stories and journalism, mostly on themes involving nature and animals. Anne had no children and, like her sisters, was a heavy smoker which led to her relatively early death. Her marriage to Carl lasted less than a year.
