Myrtle died at Mercy Hospital, Johnstown, 3 hours following an internal hemmorage, contributed by shock. There was no autopsy.

Leroy was a painter. He was killed in action during WWI, while serving as a Private in Co. E of the 319th Infantry. It was part of the 80th Division that was engaged in the Somme Offensive and the Meuse-Argonne in France.
