Donald and Arlene lived at R. D. 1, Nicktown, Pa. Following the early death of his mother, Donald was raised for for several years by his aunt and uncle, Edna and Raymond Niebauer. He worked on the family farm before starting his own in Nicktown, He was also a school bus driver for Farabaugh Bus Lines and a truck driver for Springer Oil.
