Edward was a farmer. He suddenly took ill while on his way to Ebensburg to seek medical advice for a slight cough. He was quickly removed to his home but expired before a physician could be summoned. It was believed that he suffered from a weakened heart, occasioned two years prior when he was stricken with typhoid pnemonia.
