Notes for Rinehart Reger
Rinehart was raised in the the Morton and Sleepy Eye area of Minnesota. He recalled that as a boy he saw piles of bones from the 1862 Sioux Uprising, in the area of New Ulm. He and Ann lived as farmers in Man Trap Twp., Hubbard Co., in 1900. They also farmed at Bird Island and Nevis, Minn., before relocating to the area of Page, ND, in 1904. Rinehart worked for Jim Collins and the family lived on the Dennis farm west of Page. They moved to the Gill farm in Lake Twp., in 1905. After farming there for 7 years they bought the farm later owned by William Suhr. Rinehart, with the help of his boys and two carpenters built most of the buildings on that farm. Rinehart and Ann served on the school board for District 99. Rinehart was a clerk and Ann the director for many years. Ann also delivered several babies in the area, without charge. The couple had many house parties to entertain the neighbors. They retired to Fargo in 1945.
