Notes for Philippina Binder
Philippina arrived in New York City on November 23, 1852, aboard the Cornz de With, as an 11 year old child, along with her shoemaker father Lupian Binder, mother Louisa and siblings Edward, Frida, Lukas and Walburga. Another sibling, Sophia, died on the voyage from Rotterdam. The Binder family settled in Carrolltown, Pa., by 1860.

In 1880, “Philopena Faling” was living at the home of her mother Louisa in Carrolltown, Pa. She is identified as married but no husband is listed/ In 1900, she was living at the home of Celestine and Rose Farabaugh, also in Carrolltown. She is identified as a widow who had three children with one living.

John is likely misidentified in the 1870 Census as the laborer “John Shilan,” in Carrolltown, Pa., along with wife “Philomena” and their children Rosalia, William and Walbert.
