James and Maggie lived in Portage Ywp., Cambria Co., Pa., James was a tax collector there for 40 years. He was also a farmer. His death certificate indicates that his demise was sudden, evidently caused by heart disease.

Margaret’s obituary does not identify her cause of death, but indicates she was ill for several weeks and that “[s]he bore her affliction with great fortitude and resignation and was strengthened by the sacraments of the Catholic church, of which she was a devout member.”
