William, aka “Mickey,” worked for the Altoona Area School District. He chaired the science department, and was an earth science instructor at Roosevelt Junior High School for 38 years. He implemented the Mile High Weather Eye for WFBG radio on Friday mornings and for the Access Channel media outlet. He also was the wrestling coach for Roosevelt, compiling a record of 71-12. William also coached football and baseball teams locally. He died following a two year struggle against melanoma. An annual golf tournament in his honor awards a scholarship to a qualified athlete at Altoona Area High School.
