Notes for Emma Schoch
Emma’s father, Wiliam Schoch, was a farmer and immigrated from Germany in 1881. Her mother Louisa immigrated from the same country in 1883.
Notes for Ralph Henry (Spouse 1)
Ralph was a farmer. In 1922, he and Emma established a 200 acre farm that was orginally known as “the Bradley Farm,” in Snyder Township, Blair Co., Pa., adjacent to the Hillcrest section of Tyrone. As the improvements were completed in 1926, the barn burned down, destroying the frame house, farm machinery and 8 heads of cattle. An arsonist was caught and imprisoned for 6 years. The Haggs immediately rebuilt and moved in during the Spring of 1927. Ralph and Emma grew a herd of 65 dairy cattle. Ralph’s brother John started a dairy to process the milk. Children Francis and Joseph continued on with the farm, although the cattle and dairy business was sold in 1966. As a beef cattle farm, the family business expanded to include the Schock parcel from Emma’s family. All four sons and two daughters became involved over the years. The Hagg Family farm was a community center of activity for decades, producing many happy memories for the entire area.
