Jack lived in Bird Island, Minn., in September of 1925. He then in 1934 went to live with his uncle Theodore Kujas in Winthrop. And then he relocated to Circle, Mont., in 1940.

and was a veteran of WWII. He was one of the first in his area to enter the service, on February 1, 1941, and he saw action in New Guinea, the South Pacific and the Phillipine Islands. He was honorably discharged in October of 1945. In 1948, Jack purchased the telephone exchange in Eden Valley, Minn. and settled there. Soon after, he was diagnosed with leukemia, believed to have been related to his past sufferings from malaria. Jack had a nearly continuous hospitalization from May 18, 1950, until his death nearly four months later.
