Jerry served in the Army during the Korean War. He became a real estate broker, held positions at various banks and did real estate appraisals. He spent 50 years in the real estate business in Doylestown. He was also a leader in various civic organizations such as the Doylestown Jaycees the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce, the Doylestown Athletic Association and especially as a founding member of the reorganized Kiwanis Club. He also played sax and clarinet in several local bands such as the Quakertown Band.
