Notes for Catherine Fox
Known as Kate. She immigrated to the U.S. in 1891, most likely on the USS Pavonia that left Liverpool and arrived in Boston on August 23, 1891. The manifest indicates that 19 year old Kate Fox, native of Ireland, arrived with Massachusetts as her intended destination. It is less likely she came on the Anchoria, which sailed from from Moville, Ireland and Glasgow, Scotland, arriving in New York City on May 13, 1891. The manifest identifies “Cath. Fox,” who appears as a 17 year old passenger travelling alone with New York as the intended destination.

Kate had post partum difficulties, and the children were cared for by a sister-in-law, Rose Kane. By 1920, she relocated to the Blair County Hospital for the Insane.
Notes for Peter Herman (Spouse 1)
Went by Herman until about 1910 when he referred to himself as “P. Herman.” He was a steamfitter in the lttona railroad shops in his youth, and then a farmer in Carroll Township, Cambria Co., Pa., for 40 years.
