Notes for Peter Paul (Spouse 2)
Peter was an Air Force veteran of WWII. He was a homicide victim, shot in the chest with a revolver. An autopsy determined that the bullet struck the left main pulmonary artery. Peter was shot by Robert Terrence Mulligan, 24, during an argument on N. 6th Street in Allentown. Robert fled to the home of his in-laws and when police arrived there he ran into a large nearby cornfield with 8 foot stalks and thick weeds. A 40 officer manhunt ensued, which was fruitless. Acting on a tip the next day, officers finally located and arrested Robert in a field near Macungie. Robert had a record, having served 4 months of prison time for burglary. Peter also had a record and was a well-known brawler, jailed ten times at Lehigh Co. prison for various charges of assault, battery and burglary. Mulligan was found guilty of voluntary manslaughter and aggravated assalt and battery. He was sentenced to prison for 7-14 years.
