Orval was also known as “Jack.” Although born in Carrolltown, Pa., Orval was living in Highland, Pa., by the age of 8 and in Corsica, Pa., by the age of 18. He graduated from Union Vocational Technical School in Corsica at the age of 22 and became a Registered Nurse. Following his marriage to Helen they lived in Buffalo, Jamestown and Collins, NY. He had a supervisory position at Gowanda State Hospital in Helmuth, NY. and also lived in Gowanda, N.Y.

Betty settled in Jamestown, N. Y., after Orval's death. She was a Registered Nurse, graduating at the Jamestown General Hospital in 1933, meeting Orval who was a graduate in 1934. She worked two years at the Jamestown Hospital before taking a position at the Gowanda State Hospital in Helmuth, NY.

Betty was an attendant at J.N. Adam Hospital in Perrysville, NY, and a lab technician prior to her marriage to Jack. She lived in Perrysburg and Jamestown, NY.
