The Koehles settled in Altoona, Pa. Charles graduated from the George Heid School of Announcing and worked as a radio announcer for station WTRN. The couple lived in Tyrone and Hollidaysburg, Pa. In 1964, Charles joined the Butterick Plant, a division of American Can Co., and became a supervisor there after four years in the purchasing and engineering departments. He served in the U.S. Navy.
