Matilda was raised in Carrolltown, Pa. She and Adam owned and operated a 72 acre farm at R.D., Patton, Pa., which is now a lake in Prince Gallitzin State Park in northern Cambria County, Pa. Matilda died of post operative shock from a choledochotomy (incision into bile duct).
