Notes for Emma Fehrenbacher
Emma immigrated with her father Michael, step-mother Gertrud and siblings on the Collins line vessel, The Pacific, arriving in New York City on 18 Sep 1854. Emma was better known as "Emily." She was raised in Carroll Township, Cambria Co., Pa.

Emma died in a farming accident. While Anton was away working as a carpenter for the local railroad, she was cultivating corn at the family farm. Emma’s horse was startled and threw her under the shovels of the cultivator, causing extensive injuries. She died 11 days after the mishap was reported. Her death announcement mentioned that “she was the mother of fifteen children, seven of whom survived her.”
Notes for Anton (Spouse 1)
Anton, aka Antonio or Anthony, immigrated in 1847 and was a baker. He and Emma started their family on a farm in Blacklick Township, Cambria Co., Pa. But by 1875, they are found in Lakin Township, Barton County, Kansas. On August 4, 1880, Anthony’s homestead claim for 80 acres in Lakin Twp. was approved, and the Census indicated he was a farmer there. He became a naturalized citizen in Barton County on November 18, 1882. With the death of his wife Emma the following year, Anton relocated to Arkansas and remarried in 1884. He next moved with the second wife to Paris, Tex., in 1886, and were recorded there in the 1900 Census.
