Clark was raised in Banks Township, Indiana County, Pa., and worked as a coal miner. Following his marriage to Helen, the couple lived in Akron, Ohio, by 1930. Clark was a grinder at a rubber factory there. However, by 1935, they were back near home, where Clark was a mechanical electrician for the coal mines. He was a laborer and died of a cerebral hemmorage.
