Walter was a truck driver and also worked for Ragley Lumber and Helsley Coal Co. of Nanty-Glo. He and Aline first lived at Dumans Dam, Barr Twp., Cambria Co., Pa., until a fire destroyed the home in December of 1941, a fire that also took the like of Walter’s father, John. The family relocated to Ebensburg.
