William immigrated with his mother Elizabeth and brothers from Scotland to New York City, arriving on the vessel SS Ethiopia on July 12, 1887. He was a miner and lived with Helen in Carroll Twp., Cambria Co., Pa., near Bakerton. He suffered from acute alcoholism and died of lobar pneumonia following influenza.
