Settled in Winter Park, Fla. Joan and her first husband William Cotter owned the Farragut Hotel in Rye Beach, N.H. Joan later was co-owner, hostess and social event coordinator at the Seminole Hotel and the Virginia Inn, on the shores of Lake Osceola in Winter Park. The hotel interests were sold in the late 1960s and both of the Winter Park locations were eventually demolished for residential developments. Joan died of pancreatic cancer.
