Notes for Edmund McConnell
Edmund was a well-known engineer in the early history of the railroad in Altoona, Pa. In 1869 he became a locomotive fireman in the Pittsburgh Division, and was promoted to passenger engineer in 1871. He maintained that position until retirement in 1919. Edmund had seven sons all of whom became engineers in various capacities wih the Pennsylvania railroad.
