Notes for Myron Aloysius Farabaugh
Myron died in an auto accident in West Germany six days before his discharge from military service. He was stationed with the 3rd Division, 54th Armored Field Battalion and had basic training at Fort Knox, Ky. He entered service on on July 6, 1955, and went overseas in May of 1956. Myron died near Nienburg-Weiser, Germany, as a passenger in his automobile being driven by a friend to Bremerhaven Port for delivery to the U.S. A German truck hit the vehicle head on and both were killed. Upon return to the U.S., Myron’s body was laid out for viewing at the home of his uncle and aunt, Gussie and Ettie Farabaugh. Myron was fond of German clocks and sent several home as gifts to his family.

Rita lived in Lilly and/or Munster Township, Cambria County, Pa. After graduating from high school, she worked as a secretary for the Farm Bureau of Ebensburg. She obtained a master’s degree in education from Indiana University, and taught third grade for 33 years at the Central Cambria schools.
