Notes for Mary Catherine Farabaugh
Census records from 1860-1880 show that Catherine grew up in Carroll Township and boarded in Conemaugh, Pa., before her marriage to Sebastian Boxler. Catherine and Sebastian settled in Johnstown, Pa.
According to Agnes Batovich, their grandchild, Kate often referred to her siblings in Carrolltown, but visits there were rare due to the lack of transportation. Agnes recalls only visiting once, when she was 8 years old.
Notes for Sebastian Joseph (Spouse 1)
Sebastian was raised in Johnstown, working in the rail mill. The Boxler family has been traced directly back to a Jakob Boxler (ca. 1610 - ca. 1663), of Kappel-Bachau, Württemburg, Germany.

In addition to his work at the Cambria Steel Works, Sebastian served over 12 years as a councilman in the Tenth Ward of Johnstown. At the time of his death, Sebastian was a night watchman at the plumbing department for Bethlehem Steel. His cause of death was listed as “probably apoplexy.”
