Notes for Mary Cecelia Boxler
The Keafers lived in Johnstown and in Conemaugh Township, Cambria Co., Pa. By 1930, after her husband’s death, Mary and her children were living in Windber, Pa. By 1935, the youngest children had been placed in the Mooseheart Home For Orphans and Dependents in Batavia Township, Kane Co., Ill.
Notes for Irvin William (Spouse 1)
Irvin was employed in the Cambria Steel Works before becoming a machinist with the Lorain Steel Company. He was accidentally electrocuted near his home at the age of 35, while handling a radio aerial that came in contact with a high-power light wire. The shock caused him to plunge forward into a coil of charged wire. He was the son of Levi Keafer, who was badly shocked in the effort to save Irvin.
