From at least 1935-40, siblings Walter, Paul and Robert Keafer lived at the Mooseheart Home for Orphans and Dependents in Batavia Township, Kane Co., Ill. Robert served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1971 and retired as a Master Sergeant. He also worked for Tysinger Dodge, Newport News Shipbuilding, Great Atlantic Realty, VIMS and Bendix. He and Eleanor settled at Newport News in 1956.
