Notes for Dr. Francis Donald Farabaugh
The 1930 Census places “Francis” in Brooklyn, NY, as a health insurance instructor, boarding with Charles Soschert, a teacher. Actually known as “Donald,” he became a chiropractor who in 1935 lived in New York City with his family. He had a practice in Flushing, Long Island for 40 years. In 1971 he and Anna moved in Deltona, Fla. Donald was also an accomplished artist and his works were exhibited in Deltona art shows for 15 years, a pursuit he had into his 90s. He painted several biblical scenes and a Deltona fire department hall purchased his painting of the Liberty Bell. Don also had humorous paintings. One showed a man painting a name on a rowboat that was upside down on benches with the name being painted rightside up, with a look of shock on the man’s face focusing attention to the error. Another depicts a busy railroad station that upon close inspection shows a a dog answering nature’s call in the lower corner of the rendering.
