James settled in Hastings, Pa. James was a partner in a supermarket that opened in Hastings in 1940, and became owner and operator of Top Hat Market and Flowers. He was well known for his quiet generosity and civic contributions over several decades. James donated thousands of flowers to St. Bernard’s Church, HAIDA Manor and Miners Hospital. He supported over 35 foster children through agencies. He also served several years as the President of the Hastings Area Industrial Development Association.
