Notes for Anna Esther Ludwig
Following the early death of her husband Charles, Esther and her young son lived on the farm of her parents in Barr Twp., Cambria Co., Pa.
Notes for Charles E. (Spouse 1)
Sometimes known as “Jim.” He was killed in a coal mining accident while working for the Ebensburg Coal Co., when he was run over by a coal car. He sustained a right thigh compound fracture that caused a hemorrhage and shock.
Notes for Joseph Frederick (Spouse 2)
In October of 1912, Fred and his sister Mary were among the 52 school students of John J. McHale, and it was reported that they did not miss any school days for the previous month. In his youth he was injured from a car starter crank that struck him on the side as the car backfired, and injury that his sister ALice belived caused him to be hunched over in later life.

Fred settled in Nicktown, Pa. He was a farmer and later moved away and worked as a lumber man. After the death of his father he returned to work the family farm at the insistence of his grandmother Nora.
