Jozef arrived in New York City on the Carpathia, at the stated age of 16, on January 3, 1906. On the ship manifest, he was identified as an agricultural laborer of Slovakian origin, last living in Csaklyo, Hungary. He arrived with $10 and was intending to join a brother Mikaly in Johnstown, Pa. Jozef and his family settled in Johnstown. He was a steelworker.
