Bertram was killed in a motorcycle accident. He incurred an intercranial hemmorage when his motorcycle rolled on him after he attempted to avoid a bump on Township Route 407, about two miles west of Byrnedale, Pa. His passenger, 13-year-old Patricia Moorhead, survived the accident. Bertram was a senior at St. Marys High School.
