The 1930 Census lists Glenn as one of three boarders on Wissinger Road in Scalp Level, Pa., in a household headed by an Emil George. This may have been an orphan’s home.
Glenn had an abscess at the base of his brain, and died of a staph infection, the day after an operation. The death certificate lists Chester Price as the father, Elizabeth Farabaugh as mother and Walter A. Glessner as informant. On its face this suggests that Elizabeth was the natural mother out of wedlock. Glenn is inscribed on Walter and Elizabeth’s tombstone as “Glenn L. Glessner,” which tends to support the theory that Walter may have at least informally adopted the boy following his marriage to the boy’s mother.
