William was a master electrician for Sylvania (GTE) for 35 years. He was a founding and 50 year member of The Gallitzin Lions Club. He was served as president of the Greater Gallitzin School Board, president of the Cambria School Board and Admiral Perry Vo Tech School, totalling 22 years of service. He was a self-employed businessman in his early years as an electrician, and a radio and television repairman.
