In 1920, Arthur was living at the home of his uncle Richard Williams in Patton, Pa. Arthur and Ruth settled in Emeigh, Pa. Arthur was a coal miner for the Cherry Tree Coal Company. He was a member of UMWA Local 1609, and was custodian at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church (later named Christ the King Catholic Church) in Emeigh for 18 years.
